Postcards from the Middle
This body of work was created with the Kansas City Society for Contemporary Photography & the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art. These pieces are a response from their exhibit Strange and Unfamiliar Places. We were asked to create images that reflected our point of view from this particular moment in time. My images are a response to motherhood, creativity, and renewal to my daily life in spring of 2025. Separate images are pieced together with traditional quilt block shapes as a way of bringing the two separate subjects together. Through writing workshops we were encouraged to write responses on the back of two of our images and then during the Nelson’s Night Shift event museum guests were able to write on and send our cards to people throughout the country. My two chosen postcards will also be in the museum archive.
